Why The Ugliness Of Cycling Shorts Is Surpassed Only By Their Importance

Testing Your Cycling Endurance on the Flats of Kansas

Most cyclist wonder just how strong they are. Are you ready for the Marathon of cycling in the flats of Kansas? Well consider the 213 miles from Wichita to Liberal Kansas. Yes over two hundred miles, can you handle that? Few can, but it can be done in one sitting. I know what you are saying; that ought to be a real ass-flatener.

Indeed that is one way to look at it and yet the road is nice with plenty of shoulder area so you not really get you ass-flatened by a Mack Truck. Hey, there is no easy way to ride 213 miles and so you may as well have a sense of humor, because if you hope to finish this ride in under 10 hours then you know that you must ride 21.3 mph on average including any rest stops you take.

Recommendations? Sure, go light, water and power bars, good air pressure in the tires and pop some electrolytes prior to

the ride and pasta with lots of complex carbs the night before, because you will have none when you are done. Despite what you might think about Liberal Kansas not too many liberals really live there.

You can tell simply by the people walking into the local Wal-Mart or touring the Mid America Aircraft Museum, which the town is known for. Kansas is huge state and this is a huge ride. Good luck and Gods Speed, which happens to equal 21.5 mph. Until you do this you cannot secure your bragging rights to being a long-distance cyclist.
