Everyone is doing Pilates Method today, from the Hollywood celebrities to your next door neighbor. Well, Pilates is a fast growing phenomenon that’s destined to remain popular. It is well-known throughout the world as a form of exercise, but much to that, the Pilates Method and exercise is not just a form of plain exercise, but is a series of controlled movements that strengthen and condition the body.

Although the Pilates Method and exercise is an activity that involves physical aspects, it is important to note that it is not a cardiovascular workout. With this, you will not have to worry about over exerting yourself. The Pilates Method and exercises were designed and developed as a systematic practice that boosts your body’s core through balancing, stretching, strengthening and breathing. It’s no wonder then that the Pilates Method is often recommended in addition to aerobic workouts as well as resistance training.

How Does the Pilates Method Work?

On its most basic, the Pilates Method and exercise works by way of combining breathing techniques with special stretches and a machine. As mentioned earlier, it is a method of exercise and controlled movements that focuses on enhancing the core of the human body by making it stronger and flexible.

Also, the Pilates Method and exercise is more dynamic than yoga. The reason for this is the fact that this method pushes the body through stretching and then targets flexibility, strength and posture.

Experts say that by using the Pilates machine, individuals have to go through systematic moves, while holding their torso in place and moving their limbs in different directions. It is these movements that challenge the person’s strength, flexibility and balance.

Benefits of Pilates Method and Exercise

The benefits of the Pilates Method and exercise are highly noticeable. A lot of Pilates enthusiasts have reported and claimed that by attending regular Pilates classes or sessions, their bodies get toner, stronger, and well-balanced. As often said, they feel the difference in their abs, backs and legs instantly after doing the Pilates Method and exercise.

There also other associated benefits to the Pilates Method. One of those is weight loss. Then, a number of people who tried the Pilates reported an increase in energy levels and a general sense of well-being.

Many have further testified that the Pilates Method and exercise is gentle and very effective. It is an ideal workout for athletes recovering from injury, older people who may not have the capacity to perform strenuous exercise, or the pregnant women who wish to get back in shape after pregnancy.
